How To Find The Right Boudoir Photographer

Want to give your guy a sexy gift?
Here are some tips to get you started.

You want to present your boyfriend or husband with a set of professional boudoir pictures. Maybe it's for his wedding day gift. Maybe for an anniversary or holiday. Whatever the reason, he's a guy, so you already know he's going to love sexy pictures of you.

But how do you find the right boudoir photographer for the job? One who's going to make you feel comfortable, and still create those tastefully hot images you want? Making the decision to do a boudoir photo session is the first step. Finding the right boudoir photographer, and preparing for your session is the next.

We asked a couple of our recent clients to share some thoughts on their boudoir photography experience with us. I hope their insight will help you know what to look for in a boudoir photographer, and what to expect with your session.

Making The Decision

Your boudoir photography session can be fun, and will certainly make a wonderful gift. The first step is making the decision to do it.

Kristen, a recent boudoir client told us, "I knew I wanted to do something for my fiancé for his wedding gift that was unique and unexpected. I wasn’t sure what he would think about this gift, except that it is completely unlike me to do anything like this. But, I knew he would appreciate and enjoy the fact that I made such an effort to come out of my comfort zone to give him something so personal and exotic. I realized I wanted to get some very provocative shots, but I wasn’t sure how someone as conservative as I am would go about handling a situation like that."

As it turns out, Kristen's session went wonderfully. We started off by talking about what she wanted her pictures to look like. She showed me some of the outfits she brought with her, and we discussed a basic outline for the session. Later, she said she was happy she decided to do this.

Do You Need The Perfect Body?

You don't need the "perfect body" to look stunning in our boudoir images. The idea is to look incredibly sexy and alluring. Your photographer's job is to emphasize your best assets. Confidence will come with trusting in your photographer's abilities. And that confidence will show in your final pictures.

"I think I had the same worries before the shoot as any woman does," admits Christy, another client of ours. "What should I wear that is most flattering for me? Are the photos going to turn out well? Is my boyfriend going to like them? Is my butt going to look big? Is it going to be awkward? This was the first boudoir shoot I had ever done, so I was very nervous, and tried to mentally prepare myself. Once I met Ed though, all my concerns and nervousness disappeared. He was so respectful and understanding of the situation, he really made me feel at ease."

Chances are your guy loves you the way you are right now. And, your boudoir pictures are something he will really cherish.

The Right Photographer

Boudoir photography is a specialty that requires a unique skill set. Rapport-building, sensitivity, editing and retouching expertise, and a unique combination of knowing 1) how women want to be photographed, and 2) what images your guy will really respond to. But, most of all, you need to find the boudoir photographer that is right for you. Find the one that produces boudoir images you really like, and one who makes you feel comfortable and confident.

"I wanted to do a boudoir session for my boyfriend for quite a while actually," says Christy. "But I couldn't seem to find a photographer I felt comfortable with. I saw some boudoir photos Ed had done of a friend of mine. I thought they were gorgeous, classy, and sophisticated. I asked her if she enjoyed working with him, and her thoughts, along with the quality of his work, motivated me to contact him. I went to his website to look over more of his work, and to try and get a feeling of who he was. After speaking to Ed several times, I was confident he was the perfect photographer, and I was looking forward to working with him."

Kristen adds, "Ed Verosky’s website was the first one that popped up when I started my research of boudoir on the internet. As I researched more, I found no one who compared to Ed in experience, portfolio size, and price. I was nervous as I started my conversations with Ed, but he quickly put me at ease with his demeanor and approach to the entire thing."

So, What's A Boudoir Photography Session Like?

I've had clients who were excited, but understandably nervous, in the time leading up to their boudoir sessions. But, these sessions are usually very fun, positive, and creative. It's a collaborative process where the artist and subject are working to create an illusion of place, mood, and atmosphere. Nervousness quickly gets replaced by confidence and the work at hand.

Christy relates, "The shoot was a delight. I really enjoyed it. Ed was so creative, helpful, and fun to be around the time just flew by!"

"I was not as nervous as I thought I would be," explains Kristen. "I think, in part, my lack of nervousness had to do with how thorough Ed and his wife, Dedra were in helping me to prepare.

"I had in my mind what I was going to bring and how I wanted my outfits to make me look. But I really made sure to not go into the shoot with any preconceived notions of what to expect.

"I figured if I went in as a blank canvas, Ed would work his artistic talent and turn me into a work of art. I think if had gone in with an idea of what I wanted to the “T," I would not have been as willing to try new things and let him tell me what works best.

"Although I think I started out a little rough, it was really easy for me to get comfortable and into the photo shoot. I brought my best friend with me, and she really helped to keep me loose and not too focused. But Ed and Dedra were great in helping me feel comfortable and relaxed."

The Final Product: A Sexy Gift For Him!

Beautiful, alluring, fun, dramatic, sexy, and sensual images of yourself; that's the goal of your boudoir photography session. When you present these images as a gift to your groom, husband, or boyfriend, he should be thrilled! Many women are so happy with the results, they can't wait to share the pictures and tell their friends about the experience.

Christy was excited with her boudoir photos. "My boyfriend absolutely loved the photos! I showed my family also, and they all thought they were fantastic."

"I have already recommended Ed to a friend, and it has only been three days," says Kristen. "I truly feel that Ed has a great knack for this type of photography and helps to capture the pure and illustrious essence that all women possess. This is the type of gift that would make a man stop in his tracks at the first sight of the pictures. There aren’t many other things that have that ability. And one of the reasons these pictures can do that is because of the talent that is behind the camera, making a woman’s greatest qualities stand out in bold."
